Be prepared for nasty winter weather conditions this week

Any way you approach it, we are headed into a potentially nasty week of winter weather. The Icon advises viewers to make plans accordingly.

Based on three Internet weather sites, predictions of anywhere from 8 to 14 inches of snow could occur here over the next three days. On top of that an ice storm is predicted.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 11. Northeast wind around 10 m.p.h.

Monday: A 30 percent chance of snow after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 21. East wind between 10 and 15 m.p.h.

Monday Night: Snow before 1 a.m., then snow and sleet. Low around 17. East wind around 15 m.p.h. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Tuesday: Snow, mainly after 1p.m. Areas of blowing snow. High near 24. Northeast wind between 15 and 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Snow, possibly mixed with freezing rain and sleet before 10 p.m., then freezing rain and sleet. The snow could be heavy at times.

Widespread blowing snow before 10 p.m. Low around 25. Windy, with a northeast wind between 20 and 30 m.p.h. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Wednesday: Snow, possibly mixed with freezing rain and sleet, becoming all snow after 1pm. The snow could be heavy at times. Widespread blowing snow. High near 27. Blustery. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Wednesday Night: Widespread blowing snow and a chance of snow showers before 1a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 4. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Accuweather puts it this way:

There will be a snowstorm from Tuesday evening into Wednesday afternoon with blizzard conditions Tuesday night and will accumulate 1-2 feet.

And from weather.gov

Weather.gov predicts a cloudy Monday, a wintry mix of weather on Tuesday with a 90 percent chance of snow. On Wednesday, a low of zero and an 90 percent chance of snow described as "blowing snow."
