Who makes the best chili in Bluffton? Find out Saturday at the library
Bluffton Public Library's first Library Lovers "Cook for Books" Chili Cook-Off will take place on Saturday, Feb. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Jim Boedicker of Ada will provide live entertainment from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.Three local "celebrities" - Matt Jordan, Fred Steiner and Phil Zimmerly - will judge samples to determine which cook will receive bragging rights for having the best chili.
Guests will also vote for their favorite chili to determine the winner of the people's choice award.
Event tickets are available for a minimum donation of $7 per adult or $5 for youth under the age of 12. Guests can save $1 per ticket by purchasing them in advance at the library's circulation desk.
With the generosity of sponsors, cooks and volunteers, the library will be using 100 percent of the proceeds from this event to purchase additional youth and teen materials that would not be possible otherwise, due to ongoing budget challenges.
