Aurora R. Bayes funeral service Monday

Aurora Rose Bayes, 3 days, died September 1, 2014 at Bluffton Hospital. She was born August 29, 2014 in Lima to Timmy Bayes and Darian Kiracofe who both survive near Columbus Grove.

Did you hear a round of applause cry out from Ada? It was a good day in the Hardin County community

NOTE: What some consider Ada's story of the century, the Ada United Methodist Church steeple was placed atop the church on Sept. 4, as construction to the building continues. The following story was written for the Ada Icon and is shared with Bluffton Icon viewers.

A well-deserved and impromptu round of applause.

That sound resonated throughout Main Street Ada at 10:40 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 4, marking the successful lifting and placement of a 18,000-pound steeple (9 tons) atop the Ada First United Methodist Church.

BFR Sports and Fitness, 215 Snider Road, released its fall program schedule with offerings for persons of all ages.

The four-page program highlights (a printable attachment at the bottom of this story) includes:

• Youth programs including basketball, dodge ball, football, rookie all sports, soccer, tiny tots, volleyball, swim lessons and tennis.

• Adults programs include coed league volleyball, coffee walks, personal training, longest loser contest, tennis and several additional programs.

Watching history in the making

No, this scene is not from Bluffton. But at 10:40 a.m. this morning Bluffton residents may have heard applause coming from Ada. The 18,000-pound steeple (9 tons) became a permanent fixture the the Ada First United Methodist Church today. Construction of the building is in process following a fire that destroyed the Ada Main Street landmark. The steeple is now 54 feet above the ground. The top of the cross is 91 feet above the ground. Over 200 persons watched the steeple being raised from ground level on Thursday. The process took about 45 minutes. Watch for videos.
