Art space Lima opens Bluffton art show Sept. 16
ArtSpace/Lima announces the opening of "Bluffton University Faculty and Their Students," a double exhibition of recent works, with a reception for the artists on Friday, Sept. 16, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.
The exhibit will feature works by the current faculty of the department of art at Bluffton: Gregg Luginbuhl, department chair, Phil Sugden, and Andreas Baumgartner, as well as work by recent and current students, including Kelsey Greeley, Becky Lutz, Maegan Rohdes, Melissa Rex, and Amy Deland.
Luginbuhl, a ceramist and ceramic sculptor, is past president of Ohio Designer Craftsman and a well-known potter throughout Ohio and the Midwest. He has exhibited in more than 150 regional and national exhibitions, and his award-winning work is included in many public and private collections nationwide.
Sugden's work has been exhibited in more than 90 solo and 130 group shows internationally, including galleries and museums in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Washington, D.C., Melbourne, and Kathmandu, as well as nearer to home in the Toledo Art Museum, the Canton Art Museum, the Columbus Cultural Arts Center and ArtSpace/Lima. He has made a specialty of Tibetan art and culture.
Baumgartner is the newest member of the group, joining the Bluffton faculty this fall. One of his photographs won First Place in Special Effects in the ArtSpace Photography Club's Juried Exhibit of 2009.
ArtSpace/Lima is a not-for-profit arts organization with a mission to promote the arts in northwest Ohio and to provide artists with a venue to present and to sell their work.
ArtSpace/Lima is supported in part by a grant from the Ohio Arts Council.
