It takes the cake
Kiera Fenwick (center) of St. Marys, displays her winning entry-"Angel Food Bliss"-in Bluffton University's annual cake contest, held Nov. 10.
Placing second was Nicole Fairburn (left) of Cridersville, with a pumpkin cheesecake, while Mackenzie Bedlion (right) of Marshallville, took third with her pumpkin cake.
The winners each received a chef's hat, apron and potholders, as well as bragging rights. Thirteen first-year dietetics students in Bluffton's Fundamentals of Food Preparation course competed in the event, which was started in the 1970s by Barbara Stettler, now an associate professor emeritus of family and consumer sciences.
Judges were university faculty, staff and administrators.
