BVH Laboratory receives CAP 15189 SM accreditation
The Blanchard Valley Hospital Laboratory has received College of American Pathologists (CAP) 15189 SM accreditation to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This is the second accreditation the lab has received. Accreditation is valid for three years.
In 2009, the Blanchard Valley Hospital Laboratory was named the third laboratory in the United States to receive the CAP 15189 SM Accreditation. The lab is the second lab in the nation to earn re-accreditation.
The CAP 15189 SM Accreditation is a voluntary, non-regulated accreditation to the ISO 15189:2007 Standard. This accreditation is given to laboratories that achieve the highest levels of operational systems improvement, risk reduction and quality management. Laboratories that receive this accreditation are certified as providing the safest conditions for their patients.
"Through the accreditation process we have worked to implement process improvements that allow us to provide continually better lab services to our community," said pathologist Dr. Heidi Budke. "We are proud to be recognized for providing such high quality patient care."
