Men's soccer: Earlham takes down Beavers by 3-0 count

The Bluffton University men’s soccer team was defeated 3-0 by Earlham College on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012. The Beavers fell to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in the HCAC while Earlham improved to 3-7-2 overall and 1-0-2 in the HCAC.

Earlham’s first goal came in the 31st minute when Jacob Ebbs put the ball in the back of the net off an assist from Ibrahim Diarra. Their second goal was scored with three minutes left in the first half. Diarra was the scorer and the assist came from Zander Ansara.

Earlham’s third and final tally was scored at the 57:49 mark on an Ebbs’ header. He was assisted by Ansara. The Beavers continued to battle, but the visitors were unable to crack the Earlham defense as the Quakers finished off their 3-0 victory.

The Beavers were outshot 21-7 by Earlham. The home team forced two more corner kicks (3-1) than Bluffton. Nate Byrum (London) led the Beavers with three shots. Freshman keeper Jeff Yoder (Elkhart, IN/Bethany Christian) collected six saves.

Bluffton returns to action with a trip to Anderson University on Wednesday, Oct. 10. The match is slated to start at 3:30 p.m.
