Genevieve Leightner was active in Pandora Missionary Church
Genevieve Marie Leightner, 97, of Pandora died at 8:15 am Nov. 1, 2012, at Bluffton Hospital. She was born Feb. 24, 1915, in Toledo to Edward Guy and Maude Murbach Dilgart. On Sept. 16, 1939, she married Clinton Edward Leightner and he preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2004.
Mrs. Leightner was a homemaker. She was a 54-year member of the Pandora Missionary Church where she had been pianist and organist, a member of Gideons International Auxiliary, and was a charter member of three churches in Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee. She was a graduate of Clyde High School and attended Ft. Wayne Bible Institute.
Survivors include four children, Wesley (Elizabeth) Leightner of Pandora, Linda Tuttle of Atlanta, Ga., Anne Kienlen of Washington, D.C., James (Dorothy) Leightner of Pandora, three grandchildren, Steve Tuttle of Clearwater, Fla., Rachael (Adam) Hammett of Granger, Ind., Joshua Leightner of Indianapolis, Ind., and three great grandchildren, Isabelle, Madison and Daniel Hammett of Granger, Ind.. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christina Leightner, and a sister, Ruth Kelly.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the Pandora Missionary Church. Rev. Sam Ochstein will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton.
