Holiday extravaganza and silent auction preview tickets available at the library
The Bluffton Public Library will host a special after-hours Holiday Extravaganza and Silent Auction Preview on Friday, Nov. 8. Doors open at 6 p.m. and demonstrations will begin at 6:30 p.m.
"Come and get a head start on holiday shopping, enjoy a night out and support literacy and learning at the same time," said Cindi Chasse, library director.
"Participants have the first opportunity to get great auction items at special “buy now” prices (cash or check accepted). Auction packages will feature Bluffton and area businesses, Walt Disney World one-day park hopper tickets, a Dyson DC41 vacuum, a 2014 Amish getaway package and much more."
"This inspiring and entertaining evening will feature appetizers, desserts, holiday beverages, door prizes and music, in addition to healthy cooking demonstrations and auction items. This event offers a really special and unique way to enjoy the library as the Extravaganza is held on the main floor among the book stacks,” said Adult Services Coordinator Tanya Augsburger.
Tickets for are $15 for one or $25 for two. Tickets are limited to adults and will be available at the Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main St., while they last. Advance purchase is recommended; this annual event sold out the past two years.
Accepting silent auction items
The library is accepting silent auction donations from patrons and businesses until Oct. 12. “This annual fundraiser supports our essential literacy and learning activities, which is especially important while the library continues to operate with state funding cuts that exceed 20 percent, and with current state law that restricts the ability to generate meaningful revenue from permanent endowment gifts,” said Chasse.
All donations to the library are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
