Windy day on the horizon says AEP
AEP released the following weather alert today: Expect numerous showers with winds from the south at 15-25 mph today.
A strong low, with strong winds aloft, is currently located in central Illinois. As a cold front approaches AEP’s East Utilities today, numerous showers and thunder storms are expected to increase in intensity this afternoon.
Widespread high winds are not anticipated, but the stronger showers and storms could mix down gusts as high as 60 mph in some spots. Since the cold front is slow moving, it may take several hours to move through each district.
Widespread damage is not expected. High wind gusts will be spotty in the stronger showers and thunderstorms, therefore it is not possible for AEP meteorologists to determine which utilities or districts will be impacted the most.
Some districts may not be impacted at all. No updates are planned unless conditions change.
