Milton Schutz was a past member of P-G school board and Riley Township trustees
Milton Weida Schutz, 92, died Nov. 17, 2016, at 10:13 a.m. at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. Milton was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Pandora to Hiram and Lucille (Weida) Schutz who preceded him in death. On Sept. 22, 1962, he married Barbara Stedke Schutz who survives in Pandora.
Milton was a 1942 graduate of Pandora High School. He was a life-long farmer. Milton served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the 7th Infantry Division as a Tech Sergeant. He earned a Purple Heart and cluster in Okinawa during the "Pacific Theatre." Milton was a 40-plus year member of the Putnam County Cattleman's Association, the Pandora American Legion, and the Ottawa VFW, served on the Pandora-Gilboa school board and served two terms as a Riley Township trustee.
Survivors include two sons, Jason (Margret) Schutz and John (Marcia) Schutz both of Pandora; a daughter, Jennifer (Dennis) Higley of Leipsic; eight grandchildren, Marissa, Andrew, Sarah and Jacob Schutz, Aaron and Mark Higley, Landon and Lindy Schutz; and a brother, Paul Schutz of Pandora.
Milton was preceded in death by three brothers, David Schutz, Grant Schutz, Lawrence Schutz; and a grandson, Michael Higley.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Pastors Lynn Thompson and Charles Warren officiating.
Military rites will be conducted by the Ottawa VFW at the funeral home following the service. Burial will take place at a later date in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora.
Visitation will be Saturday from 4 - 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or the National MPS (Mucopolysaccharidoses) Society.
