Everything you need to know about Bluffton elementary in December

December is a busy month at Bluffton elementary with Christmas concerts, service projects and other activities on the calendar. CLICK HERE FOR THE DECEMBER NEWSLETTER.

Here’s a December update from the elementary:

Christmas concert – Monday, Dec. 11, 1:30 p.m. BHS gym. If cancelled due to weather, rescheduled for Monday, Dec. 18

• Service project – “Coins for Kids!” Coin drive underway to help raise money to adopt a family for Christmas. Coins are collected until Thursday, Dec. 14.

• Memory books – For the 2017-18 school year, on sale in January until Feb. 15. Parents watch for flyers coming home.

• Volunteers needed – Reading tutors are needed at all elementary grade levels. Grandparents are welcome. Contact Beth Ackerman at 419-358-7951 for details.

• Art work – At Community Market:
    First graders designed bold-patterned ornaments with geometric stamp
    Second graders painted Christmas trees in the style of Wassily Kandinsky
    Third graders created warm and cool color snowmen and snowflakes
    Fourth graders etched candy canes and ornaments using scratch art
    Fifth graders designed symmetrical white trees with block letters

• PTO news – Watch for details in January about a Feb. 10 movie night in the cafetorium.

December calendar items:
4th – 4th-5th strings, 5th grade band concert, MS, 7 p.m.
11th – Elementary Christmas concert, BHS gym, 1:30 p.m.
13th – Fourth grade – Lion and Lamb Center, Mennonite Home, 9:30 -11:30 a.m.
14th – Third grade – Maple Crest Christmas program, 10 – 11:15 a.m.
21st – Last day of school
Jan 3 – School reopens
