Women no match for Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's basketball team fell behind 17-7 after one quarter and never recovered as Rose-Hulman stayed undefeated in Heartland Conference play with a 64-40 victory on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018. Bluffton slipped to 11-4 and 6-2 in the Heartland Conference, while RHIT improved to 12-3 and 8-0 in the HCAC.
Senior Abigail O'Donnell (Arcanum) hit 5-of-9 for 10 points on an afternoon when the Bluffton starters tallied just 26 markers. Sophomore TJ Mills (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) put up eight points and six steals, while Macey Sheerer (Bucyrus) and Kaycee Rowe (Harrod/Allen East) pulled down five rebounds each.
The Beavers managed a paltry 22.6 percent (11-of-53) from the field, including 1-of-11 (9.1 percent) from distance. Rose finished 23-of-50 field goals for 46 percent. The home team pulled down nine more rebounds (42-33) but turned it over two more times (15-13). RHIT doubled up Bluffton on points in the paint (36-18) and dominated the bench scoring as well (39-14).
Bluffton will be back in Indiana on Wednesday, Jan. 17 when the Beavers travel to North Manchester for a 7:30 meeting with the Manchester University Spartans.
