June 5 deadline for Pirate girls basketball camp, expanded to include 3rd grade

NEW: Due to increased interest for girls entering 3rd grade, this event has been expanded. Registration deadline is June 5 for t-shirt guarantee.

Hosted by the Bluffton High School Girls Basketball Coaching Staff as well as current Bluffton Lady Pirate Basketball Players.

Ohio floriculture production dropped in 2022

Ohio floriculture was worth more than $240 million in 2022, according to the USDA NASS, Great Lakes Regional Field Office.

Ohio floriculture producers sold nearly $244 million worth of floriculture commodities in 2022. This was down 10 percent from the $269 million sold in 2021.

Gwendolyn Lee Lemmon was a teacher

Gwendolyn Lee Lemmon, 84, formerly of Delaware, Ohio, passed away May 30, 2023, at Willow Ridge - Betty House.

Gwendolyn was born July 19, 1938 in Buffalo, NY, to Harry and Ruth (Newell) Berrisford, who preceded her in death.

Pirate Granger earns All-NWC baseball honors

Bluffton High School junior first baseman Jacob Granger was named second team All-Northwest Conference for baseball in voting conducted by the league coaches this week in Delphos.

Four Pirates were voted honorable mention all-league.

Junior center fielder Braeden Jordan made honorable mention all-league for the second year in a row. Junior pitcher Tyler Cupples and sophomores Landen Worcester (outfielder) and Quinn Eachus (shortstop) also received HM notice.

Special notice by Richland Township Trustees

Richland Township trustees will hold a special meeting on Wed, May 31, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the Township garage, 8435 Dixie Hwy, Bluffton, Ohio for personnel matters.

Regular meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. at the Township Garage.

Taber wins regional pole vault crown; boys 3200 relay sets meet record

Pirate boys 4th at regional meet

The Bluffton track and field teams competed very successfully at the Div. III district region 10 meet Wednesday and Friday, May 24 and 26, at Fostoria.

The Pirate boys team finished a strong fourth, tying with Ottawa Hills at 42 points. The Bluffton girls tied for 15th place with Holgate at 12 points.

Pirate senior Brianna Taber finished first in the pole vault by clearing a meet-best 10-8.

The Pirate boys quartet won the 4 x 800 relay race in a meet-record time of 7:57.92.
