George Lehman April 20 colloquium speaker
Dr. George Lehman, Howard Raid professor of business, will discuss “Cuba, Paraguay, China, Berne, Etc.: A Brief Tour through the Raid Chair lectures” at Friday Colloquium on April 20.
The presentation is free and open to the public beginning at 4 p.m. in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall. Lehman will discuss how the expectations of “a good leader” vary greatly from region to region and country to country.
Lehman will describe leadership expectations he observed during a recent study trip to Cuba as well as selected leadership vignettes from a range of places that has visited or studied as Raid Chair.
“One of the intriguing aspects of the Cuba trip was the opportunity to visit Hershey, Cuba, where Milton Hershey created a model town based on the same basic assumptions that went into the creation of Hershey, Pa.,” said Lehman.
Lehman has served as the Howard Raid professor of business since 2004. The title honors the late Howard Raid, a Bluffton business professor from 1947-79.
Howard Raid’s daughter, Elizabeth Raid, will be in attendance at the lecture and a reception following the event. She will have copies of “Man of Faith and Vision,” the biography she wrote about her father.
