Free public classes to discuss Microsoft Word, computer safety, and the Cloud at Bluffton library

Bluffton Public Library will host Matt Motes, Information Technologist for the Serving Every Ohioan Library Center, for another set of tech lessons on the evening of Tuesday, September 11th

Would you like to learn more about Microsoft Word?  Have you wondered if your computer is secure? Want to learn what "the Cloud" really is? Make sure to register for one, two, or all three of the following sessions:

  • At 4:30 p.m., learn Microsoft Word with this hands-on training. Explore toolbars, the ruler, table of contents creation, inserting pictures and clipart, and much more.
  • Then at 5:30 p.m., discuss Cyber Security and what to do and look for when determining if you are being exposed to an attack.  We will look at example attacks in Vishing, Malware, and Ransomware and how to improve the safety of the environment we compute in.
  • Lastly, at 6:30 p.m., Matt will introduce Cloud Computing, the conceptual understanding of Cloud storage technology, and use historical examples to show the progression.

Teens and adults of all ages are welcome to participate, but registration is required. To register online, provide your name, contact information and the sessions you wish to attend on this online Contact Us form, or register by phone at 419-358-5016. There is also a registration sheet at the library's front desk to utilize during library hours.

Although these courses are presented to a group, groups are still small enough to provide individualized help, and there will be plenty of time for questions. Participants may bring their own laptop or may utilize the laptops provided by the SEO Library Center.
