Bluffton Diesel Service, Southgate team up with $3,700 donation to food pantry
A “Feed Bluffton” Scotch double tournament at Southgate Lanes held earlier this year generated an approximate donation of $3,700 to the Bluffton Community Assistance Program’s food pantry, according to Ed Yeager, president of the assistance program board.
Bluffton Diesel Service sponsored the food drive, in conjunction with Southgate Lanes.
The donation was broken down into a $1,400 cash donation and $2,300 in food purchases to the food pantry.
Zach Scoles owner of Bluffton Diesel Service, along with Sydnee Scoles and Jason Brown, assisted in the project. Derek Dukes and Brandon Falk were Southgate Lane partners in the Feed Bluffton drive.
Sydnee Scoles said that Bluffton Diesel Service hopes to make this an annual fundraiser for the food pantry.
She said, “The event included prizes, an auction and donations from many individuals and business. We really appreciate their participation, which made this such a great success."
Jami Crawfis, food pantry volunteer director, said, “We really appreciate local businesses and groups stepping up and helping us. We welcome other groups to consider projects like this one.”
The Bluffton food pantry is located in the St. John’s United Church of Christ basement. It supports families and individuals in the Bluffton school district.
Applications for assistance are available at the pantry during open house, which are the third Saturday of the month from 8 to 11 a.m. and on the following Wednesday of each month from 7 to 8 p.m.
