Boys' soccer: Pirates stop Jonathan Alder
By Cort Reynolds
PLAIN CITY - Visiting Bluffton defeated Jonathan Alder 4-1 in boys soccer non-league action Saturday.
The win lifted the Pirate record to 5-1 this season.
The match was scoreless at halftime. But Bluffton's Jonathan Schriner authored a second half hat trick to lead Bluffton to victory. He scored in the 57th, 75th and 78th minutes.
Pirate Jude Spallinger started the scoring with a goal two minutes into the second half.
After Schriner's first goal, Jonathan Alder's Haring scored in the 72nd minute on a penalty kick to cut the lead to 2-1. But Schriner scored two times in the ensuing six minutes to put the game out of reach.
Stymied by the Pirate defense, JA put one of its mere two shots on goal. Bluffton got off 16 shots, 10 of which were on goal.
The Alder keeper was credited with seven saves, while Bluffton had none.
The Pirates put their three-match win streak on the line at home vs. Bath Saturday, September 7.
