Apollo Career Center receives Auditor of State Award

A recent financial audit of Apollo Career Center by the Auditor of State's office has returned a clean audit report. Apollo Career Center's excellent record keeping has earned it the Auditor of State Award.

Greg Bukowski, Apollo Career Center Treasurer, "We are proud to receive the award again and very appreciative of our professional and dedicated staff."

The Auditor of State Award is presented to local governments and school districts upon the completion of a financial audit. Entities that receive the award meet the following criteria of a "clean" audit report:

Opening day is Saturday

The long wait is over. On Saturday, May 3, the popular Bluffton Farmers' Market opens for its 11th season. The market will be open rain or shine, from 8:30 a.m. to noon each Saturday from May 3 until then end of October. The market is in the Citizens National Bank parking lot. Persons interested in becoming vendors should contact Peter Previte at 567-674-9513.

Hail to the prom king and queen - Tyler and Kit-Ann; can you name last year's king and queen?

Long live the king and the queen. While Bluffton High School's junior-senior prom goes back many decades, so does the prom king and queen tradition. This year's prom, held at The Centre on April 26, followed the years-old pattern.

This year's royality go to Tyler Belcher and Kit-Ann Knisley. The couple is in the photograph accompanying this story. A second photo of the couple, during their crowning ceremony, is posted in the photo gallery below. The prom king and queen are selected by a vote from members of the senior class.

Bluffton Hospital, BVH echo labs receive accreditation

The Echocardiography Laboratories at Bluffton Hospital and Blanchard Valley Hospital (BVH) have been reaccredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL).

The Bluffton and BVH echo labs perform echocardiograms, a non-invasive test that detects and manages heart disease.

Earl Bennett funeral service May 4

A memorial service for Earl R. Bennett Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014, at St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora. 

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.  Mr. Bennett died Nov. 14, 2013, in Zephyrhills, Florida.

Several faculty awarded grants and sabbaticals
