BHS swim team hosts Holiday Invitational, combined scores highest overall
Boys finish 2nd and girls finish 3rd; records fall
The Bluffton High School swim team hosted the Holiday Invitational at the Lima YMCA on December 27, and finished strong in the water for the second straight week. The daylong event hosted 35 teams from the region and 467 swimmers.
The Bluffton High School boys team finished second with 231 points. Wapakoneta High School finished in first with 308 and Shawnee High School finished in third with 214.5 points.
The Bluffton High School girls team placed third with 204 points. Versailles High School finished in first with 243 points and Ottawa-Glandorf High School placed second with 225 points.
Combined, the Bluffton teams had the highest overall team score of all the schools.
Four individual records broken
Jenna Downey re-set the 50 free record for the second straight week with a new time of 25.79 and set a new 100 fly record with a time of 1:04.58.
Izzy Stechschulte re-set her 200 free record, again, with a 2:09.70.
June Essinger re-set her 500 record with a 6:40.15.
Two team relay records were broken for the second week in a row.
Boys 400 Free Relay of Landon Armstrong, Xavier Diller, Jackson Bowlus and Riley Verb with a time of 3:29.65
Boys 200 Medley Relay of Bowlus, Verb, Diller and Charles Wright with a time of 1:44.88
The Bluffton High School Pirates are coached by head coach Rachel Diller and assistant coach Bob Verb.
The team will compete next at Napoleon High School on January 3. The meet begins at 5:30 p.m.
