Pirate volleyball spikes Elmwood

The visiting Bluffton High School varsity volleyball team pulled away late to defeat non-league foe Elmwood Thursday evening, September 7.
Bluffton won 25-14, 24-26, 25-21, 25-20 to increase their win streak to six matches.
The Pirates improved to 8-2 after the win.
Junior Ayla Grandey hammered 20 kills and served five aces to pace the victors. Kendall Stackhouse contributed 11 kills, while Karlie Lora knocked down 12 kills to help spearhead the balanced Bluffton offense.
Lora also led the team with four blocks, while Olivia Siferd made three blocks.
Setter Gracie Yarnell passed out 30 assists and served three aces. Olivia Hobensack doled out eight assists and dealt four aces.
Avery Talavinia mustered 17 digs, while Morgan Fruchey came up with 14 digs. Vanessa Cross served up four aces.
The Bluffton junior varsity swept Elmwood in two sets.
The Pirates host Wayne Trace Monday, September 11 and travel to face local league rival Allen East (3-0) Tuesday, Sept. 12 in the Northwest Conference opener.
