Bluffton Public Library will host several Halloween-themed after-school programs this month.
Friday, Oct. 21
The first activity is a spooky film screening on Friday, Oct. 21, at 3:15 p.m. Students and families are encouraged to bring something to sit on, a blanket and/or something to drink. No registration is required for the film.
Attention teens who like to write! To celebrate Teen Read Week, which will take place Oct. 16-22, the Bluffton Public Library has an exciting writing opportunity for you.
Bluffton Public Library will celebrate Family History Month by holding a genealogy research program on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 2-4 p.m.
The workshop will offer instructions on using several online web-based genealogy resources, including Ancestry Library edition, Heritage Quest, Ohio Memory and the Hayes Obituary Index. Participants will also be given time to conduct their own research with the assistance of library staff member Justin Crawfis.
Space is limited to eight participants and registration is required. To register, visit the library or call 419-358-5016.
Bluffton Public Library will host an after-hours "whodunit" Murder in the Stacks fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 4, at 6:30 p.m.
A cast of eight directed by Pat Rodabaugh will provide a fun-filled evening. "Watch as the mystery unravels before your eyes. We will need your help to figure out who commits a murder in the quiet town of Bluffton!" said youth services coordinator Rikki Steingass. "Enjoy live music as you search for clues. Indulge in delicious appetizers and sumptuous desserts throughout the evening."
The Friends of the Bluffton Public Library recently purchased two new toddler toys for the library's Reading and Discovery Area.
One of the toys, a Deluxe Mini Playcube, includes a roller coaster, pathfinder maze, abacus, rotating number and alphabet blocks and interlocking Wonder Gears.
The cube provides the first building blocks for creative, intellectual development as it stimulates basic learning skills such as visual tracking, eye-hand coordination, letter, shape and color recognition.
Join "Gourd Man" Keith McClelland to discover the magic of gourd-carving at Bluffton Public Library on Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. He will demonstrate how to carve gourds with a Halloween theme.
This demonstration is free to the public and will be located in lower level of the library. Please register at the library circulation desk.
