New digital literacy service at Bluffton Public Library

The Bluffton Public Library is offering a new service, Northstar Digital Literacy, through the Ohio Public Library Information Network (OPLIN).  

Northstar Digital Literacy is a great resource for anyone looking to improve their skills with computers, software, or technology. Northstar is available 24/7 online and can be used in the library or at home. Guided lessons allow you to learn at your own pace and subjects cover everything from email and computer basics to social media.

Meet Sharlene Anderson, youth services coordinator

Staffer returns to Bluffton Public Library

Don't let her degree in forensic science fool you, Sharlene Anderson has a wealth of experience working with children. The new Youth Services Coordinator at Bluffton Public Library returned home to Bluffton after teaching English as a Second Language near Seoul, South Korea from 2017-2020.

Anderson--or Ms. Sharlene, as the children know her--is a graduate of Bluffton High School and Tiffin University. She worked at the library while a college student and took on her new role in October 2021.

LSO musicians visit Bluffton Public Library

Symphony storytime on March 22

Lima Symphony Orchestra will be presenting storytime programs throughout the months of March and April, including a 5:30 p.m. program on March 22 at the Bluffton Public Library. The LSO presents these programs at area libraries free of charge.

Upcoming programs will feature the theme of “emotions.”

The BPL Update for March 2022 has been issued with a calendar and details about the events and resources to be found at Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main.

Resources that can be enjoyed throughout the month include:

New Beanstack Challenges 

  • American Sign Language (Ohio Deaf History Month, March 13-April 15)
  • Women Changemakers (Women’s History Month)
  • Oscar-Worthy Reads.

Sign up little readers for the sweet gift of reading

The State of Ohio has a reminder for those of us with little readers: “Valentine’s Day is so sweet, just like the Imagination Library!” a free program that mails kids one book each month until their 5th birthday. 

All children in Ohio between birth and age 5 are eligible to be enrolled in the program at no cost to their family. Through a partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and local affiliates, this program is available at no cost to families.
