UPDATE: The mobile health clinic will be at Bluffton Public Library on Friday, April 29.
Have you ever driven past the Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main, and wondered why there is occasionally a big ONU bus parked outside? From 9:00-11:00 a.m. on the last Friday of the month, the Ohio Northern University Healthwise program provides a mobile health clinic with free health screenings.
The Icon stopped by to chat with the providers and to take a look inside the vehicle. We began with a cheeky question:
As the Allen County Health Department has lifted its Covid-19 restrictions, the Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main St., has begun to open up once again to in-person programming inside the library.
April 3-9 is National Library Week, a celebration of libraries. As a community library, the Bluffton Public Library provides a connection to books and information, to technology, and to our neighbors. Celebrate National Library Week by visiting the library and exploring all it has to offer.
The Bluffton Public Library is offering a new service, Northstar Digital Literacy, through the Ohio Public Library Information Network (OPLIN).
Northstar Digital Literacy is a great resource for anyone looking to improve their skills with computers, software, or technology. Northstar is available 24/7 online and can be used in the library or at home. Guided lessons allow you to learn at your own pace and subjects cover everything from email and computer basics to social media.
Don't let her degree in forensic science fool you, Sharlene Anderson has a wealth of experience working with children. The new Youth Services Coordinator at Bluffton Public Library returned home to Bluffton after teaching English as a Second Language near Seoul, South Korea from 2017-2020.
Anderson--or Ms. Sharlene, as the children know her--is a graduate of Bluffton High School and Tiffin University. She worked at the library while a college student and took on her new role in October 2021.
Lima Symphony Orchestra will be presenting storytime programs throughout the months of March and April, including a 5:30 p.m. program on March 22 at the Bluffton Public Library. The LSO presents these programs at area libraries free of charge.
Upcoming programs will feature the theme of “emotions.”
