Library updates its details for solar eclipse watching

Due to the popularity of the Aug. 21 solar eclipse, the Bluffton Public LIbrary is making some changes to its program that afternoon.

Here's the details from the library:

The library is making the following changes to its Solar Eclipse programming (due to its extreme popularity, the possibility of overcast conditions on Monday, and for ease of planning/preparation):

The program will be held on the lower level of the library.

Eclipse glasses are only available to registrants. Put your name on waiting list to be one of 200 to receive glasses.

Friends of the Library announce fall book sale

Friends of the Bluffton Public Library will hold their fall book sale from Wednesday, Sept. 20, to Saturday, Sept. 24, in the library.

But you need to register and wear special viewing glasses provided by the library

Bluffton Public Library is ready for the eclipse of our lifetime.

The big event of the summer is from 1:01 to 3:50 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 21.

John George, Bluffton High School chemistry teacher, will be on site, ready to answer questions and offer guidance as the eclipse happens.

Advance registration is required and all participaants must wear the special eclipse viewing glasses that will be provided.

And as a warm-up to the eclipse at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 15, program for all ages on the solar system is planned in the library's lower level.

ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED - ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST WEAR THE SPECIAL ECLIPSE VIEWING GLASSES THAT WILL BE PROVIDED AUG. 21 AT NO COST FOR UP TO 200 REGISTRANTS WHO ATTEND THE PROGRAM! 

Our Solar System with John George

Our Solar System is a program for all ages on Aug. 15 at 10:30 a.m. in the lower level of the library. Mr. George will be sharing how our solar system works through a variety of fun, interactive learning experiences. Please register soon - space is limited.

This program is designed for age 4th grade through adult.  Younger children may register, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
