The Beavers responded with eight straight points to secure the victory. Bluffton improved to 12-3 overall and tied for first at 6-2 in the Heartland Conference, while Rose-Hulman slipped to 10-5 overall and 6-2 in the HCAC.

The Bluffton University women's basketball team downed the Defiance College Yellow Jackets in dominating fashion on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, by the score of 66-48. The win helped Bluffton improve to 5-9 on the year (3-4 HCAC). Defiance fell to 3-11 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

Bluffton men improve to 11-3

The Bluffton University men's basketball team went on the road and knocked off arch-rival Defiance College, 85-77, on Wednesday, Jan. 9. Bluffton had three players crack double digits in the win over Defiance. The Beavers improved to 11-3 overall and 5-2 in the Heartland Conference. Defiance slipped to 2-12 overall and 0-7 in the HCAC.

Not enough as Anderson wins

The Bluffton University women's basketball team was defeated by Anderson University, 76-69, on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019. The loss dropped the Beavers to 4-9 on the season (2-4 HCAC), while Anderson improved to 7-6 (3-3 HCAC).

The Beavers got off to a quick 4-0 start after freshman guard Brianna Gillig (New Riegel) hit two layups to begin the game. Anderson would finish the first quarter with a flurry as they tallied the last eight points for a 16-8 advantage at the end of one.
