Dr. Lamar Nisly has been appointed Bluffton University’s vice president and dean of academic affairs. Nisly has served as the interim vice president and dean of academic affairs since June 2017.
As a member of the President’s Cabinet and the university’s chief academic officer, Nisly will oversee the academic program of the university including faculty development, assessment and general education. He will also guide the Center for Career and Vocation, Learning Resource Center, Lion and Lamb Peace Arts Center, library and registrar’s office.
Community service, social justice and economic empowerment topics of upcoming MLK Forum at Bluffton University
Nate Fields, a 1971 Bluffton graduate, senior organizational development consultant at Development Source International in Alexandria, Va., will present, “Reflections on Community Service and Servant Leadership: Then and Now,” at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, in Yoder Recital Hall.
Three Bluffton University students, who spent the fall semester in Washington, D.C., will report on their experiences during an 11 a.m. Forum on Tuesday, Jan. 29, in Yoder Recital Hall.
The students, who participated in the Washington Community Scholars’ Center program, had the opportunity to live and learn with peers from other universities while taking classes administered by Eastern Mennonite University faculty. Participants also completed a 20-hour-per-week internship in a field of their interest or major.
Bluffton women defeat Manchester; men lose -

The Bluffton University women's basketball team defeated Manchester University in dominating fashion (82-45) on Wednesday, Jan. 16. The win pushed Bluffton to 6-10 on the year (4-5 HCAC). Manchester dropped to 2-14 overall and 0-9 in the HCAC.
Junior guard Andrew Renner (Cairo/Bath) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Beavers to wins over Defiance and HCAC-leading Rose-Hulman.
Because of the forecasted weather this weekend, Saturday’s games have been moved up in time. The women now play at noon and the men at 2 p.m. with the Beaver reveal still taking place between the two games.
