Rehearsals for Bluffton University’s 128th performance of Handel’s “Messiah” will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays each week starting Sept. 20 in the Gilliom Room of Mosiman Hall on campus. There are a total of 11 rehearsals, one Saturday dress rehearsal and one concert.

Anyone interested in singing, from high school students to adults, is invited to join the chorus, which includes Bluffton students, faculty, staff and community members. There is no cost to participate. 

Bluffton University has named Dr. Luke Kleman as Interim Head Swimming and Diving Coach.

Kleman works full time as a physical therapist at Lima Memorial Health System in Lima, Ohio, where he specializes in neurological and vestibular rehabilitation. He is a certified USA Swimming Coach for the Lima YMCA and previously served as a coach for the Putnam County YMCA. Kleman has coached multiple swimmers to the Great Lakes Zones Championship meet.

The newly installed stadium lights at Bluffton University's Alumni Field will be celebrated during the football home opener at 6:00 p.m. on Sept. 17, when the Beavers take on Adrian College.

A dedication ceremony with donors Randy and Debbie Gade will take place during half-time. Randy Gade is a 1973 Bluffton alumnus who competed in Bluffton athletics. The couple live in southern Florida and are retired after selling their company, Accutech Instrumentation Inc.

Did you notice that hundreds of Bluffton University students were volunteering all over Bluffton on August 28? Their presence was certainly felt on social media, where local organizations warmly welcomed their helpers.

Dr. Rob Alexander, the Wilfred Binkley endowed professor of political science and director of the Institute for Civics and Public Policy at Ohio Northern University, will present the Forum “The Ever-Controversial Electoral College,” at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20 in Yoder Recital Hall.

In this Forum, Alexander examines how the Electoral College has changed over the years and what we might expect for its future given the constitutional crisis created in the aftermath of the 2020 election.

Bluffton University welcomed its 123rd class of students as official members of the campus community during Opening Convocation on August 30.

“Our faculty and staff commit to serve as your teachers and guides this year and in the years to come,” explained President Jane Wood. “We join with you in this journey of knowledge and, together, we all stand as mutual learners in this community of respect.”

During Convocation, 2006 Bluffton graduate Bethny Ricks shared “Mirror, Mirror.”
