Don and Jodi Brauen's fall gourd open house is this weekend. Located at 7140 Tom Fett Road, Bluffton, hours are:
• Saturday, Sept. 5
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Sunday, Sept. 6
Noon to 3 p.m.
Traditionally, the fourth Saturday in September is a time to get out and attend the Bluffton Fall Festival.
This year however, the Fall Festival has been suspended due to Coronavirus concerns.
So this means the Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio Home Service Group will not sell homemade food, or host a bake sale or auction at Mennonite Home this year.
In place of that, the Service Group will hold a Bubba C. BBQ chicken barbecue.
Bluffton merchants are hosting the second Discovery Day of the summer on Saturday, Aug. 22. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., more than a dozen shops will have special offers and sales.
“Our downtown merchants are very collaborative,” says Paula Scott, CEO of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce. “They have coordinated Discovery Days to showcase our shops and provide an extra special day for shoppers, including Bluffton University students who have just returned to town."
FROM ADA ICON - Due to COVID-19 restrictions and health concerns, “The ONU Holiday Spectacular” has been canceled for 2020.
Although this decision is regrettable, it is also the only reasonable choice in the current environment, especially in regards to protecting the health of the many performers and others involved in this production, including Ohio Northern students as well as other members of the university and area communities, in addition to guests and theater staff members.
Plans are to again host the extravaganza in 2021 and beyond.
