Experience the season in rural Bluffton-Pandora in the 1800s

The Bluffton Pandora Swiss Community Historical Society Christmas open house, “Christmas at the Homestead” is Saturday, Dec. 10, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Schumacher Homestead. 

The public is invited to tour the decorated 1843 house while snacking on homemade treats and listening to songs of the season. 

Guests can watch food being prepared in the fireplace, hand dip a candle, play a game of checkers, string popcorn, shop in the gift shop and chat with staff about the history of the house and typical life in the 1840s. 

Apollo Career Center, 3325 Shawnee Road, Lima, will hold its 27th annual Christmas at Apollo Craft Show Saturday, Dec. 3, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission is $3, children 12 and under are free. 

The proceeds from the craft show are divided among the Apollo student clubs to fund community service projects and assist students competing at state and national competitions. 

One of the largest shows in the region, Apollo Career Center hosts over 100 crafters selling home-made and hand-crafted wares.

Tuesday evening at Bluffton Senior Center

BG Insurance Group will present a program at the Bluffton Senior Center at 132 N. Main St., on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. on “Preparing for the Next Stage of Life," according Tonya Meyer, director.

The program is the first of series and will be covering Senior healthcare options. The program is free and open to the public.

 

For families and individuals who have lost a loved one

Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services will be holding a Tree of Remembrance Memorial Service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Bluffton Centre, 601 N. Main St.

The memorial service is for families and individuals who have lost a loved one this year or in years past.  The ornaments will be hung on the Christmas Tree and given to families at the end of the service.

Tickets are now on sale from members of the Bluffton Lions Club for its Blaze of Lights chicken barbecue.

Serving is from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 26. Drive-up service is available in the parking lot across from Family Dollar. Persons may eat in at the Bluffton Presbyterian Church.

Tickets are $8.50 each. Tickets will be available at the door or call 419-788-0729 for tickets in advance.
