Interested in taking a cold moon star walk? How about participating in the Great Backyard Bird Count?

Those events plus several others are planned this winter by The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve and Conservation Farm, rural Pandora, according to Anne Coburn-Griffis, of the Farm.

Four Bluffton High School choirs will perform in concert tonight (Monday, Oct. 17) in the middle school.

The 7 p.m. concert includes performances by Freshman Choir, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir and Show Choir. Kara Zink is the director.

The Western Ohio Chapter of the Lincoln Highway Association will meet for dinner at the Black Augus on Main, Van Wert at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18.

The program at 7:15 p.m. features Mike inniger of Van Wert who will show his Roadtrek motorhome and discuss his recent Roadtrek rally across Ohio.  The public is invited.

The meeting is open to the public.

 

Complete with appetizers, dessert and works by Poe

The Inn at ONU features three performances of “Shadows of Poe,” during Halloween weekend.

“Shadows of Poe” is an original work created by Octopus Productions, based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Persons will be treated to original live theatrical adaptations of “The Raven,” and “The Tell Take Heart.”

The Northwest Ohio Theatre Fraternal Association presents the performances Thursday, Oct. 27, Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29 at The Inn at ONU.

Appetizers are offered at 6:30 p.m. and the production begins at 8 p.m. each evening.

Committee has over two years of work on the project

A dedication is planned at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, for the Veterans Memorial in Beaverdam, according to Gary Crawfis, member of the memorial planning committee.

Speakers on Nov. 12 are, David Jackson, U.S. Navy veteran and First Vice Commander of the Ohio American Legion; Dan Kirkpatrick, U.S. Air Force retired and Mayor of Fairborn; and Roberta Beemer, Mayor of Beaverdam. 

The Bluffton American Legion Post 382, Bluffton Boy Scouts and Beaverdam Bunch 4-H Club members will help with the ceremonies.  A lunch will follow the dedication.

Hospital auxiliary holds super hero party Oct. 22

The Bluffton Hospital Auxiliary hosts a Superhero Party for boys and girls on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Bluffton Middle School Cafetorium.

Tickets are $10 each. The event includes a variety of games, snacks and the chance to win raffle prizes. Superheros will be present for photos, and children are encouraged to wear their favorite superhero costume.
