Still time to purchase tickets for "tea with the Lincolns"

On Thursday, April 14, The Friends of the Bluffton Public Library will host a formal Tea with the Lincolns, featuring President Abraham and Mrs. Mary Todd Lincoln as portrayed by Roger and Judy Jenot of Carey.

The tea begins at 5:45 p.m. and will be held in the library's Richland Room.President Lincoln and his first lady will speak about their experiences from the 1800s.

The Jenots bring a wealth of experience to these roles: they have traveled to many places associated with the Lincoln family and the Civil War era.

May 4 book discussion "The World Is Bigger Now"

Bluffton Public Library's monthly book discussion will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4. Read about an American journalist's release from captivity in North Korea in Euna Lee's The World is Bigger Now, a remarkable story of faith, family and forgiveness. The book discussion will be held at Common Grounds Coffeehouse & Caf'e.

Anyone interested in attending is welcome and a month-to-month commitment is not required. Copies of the book are available at the library.

Public Library jazzing it up on April 18

In honor of Jazz Appreciation Month, Bluffton Public Library is hosting "Jazz in the Stacks" on Monday, April 18, beginning at 6 p.m.

Jazz music will be presented by the Bluffton High School Jazz Band led by David Sycks. Refreshments will be provided.

Friday's Emmanuel UCC fish fry benefits Combs family

A benefit fish fry to help Stacy, Sarah and Shane Combs will take place Friday evening hosted by the Emmanuel United Church of Christ.

According to Eric Rummel, pastor of the church, all proceeds will go to Stacy, Sarah, and Shane Combs to assist their family following the recent death of Shawn Combs.

The fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 8, at the church at 8375 Phillips Road.Tickets are $7 for adults and $3.50 for youth under 11.

Menu consists of regular home cooked meal including fish, salads, and desserts.

Bluffton Public Library hosts several National Library Week Programs

In celebration of National Library Week (April 10-16), the Bluffton Public Library will host three free programs for children. The first is a "Green Project" recycled t-shirt and CD craft program on April 12 at 3:30 p.m. for grades K-12. Participants may bring one or more colored t-shirts to use for craft projects. No registration is necessary for this program.

Relay for Life kickoff dinner April 19 at The Centre

Bluffton's Relay for Life kick-off dinner is from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, at The Centre, 601 N. Main St., Bluffton, according to Sharon Garmatter.

The event includes barbecue pork sandwiches or a 4-ounce chicken breast sandwich with two sides and a cookie.

The meal is an eat in or carry out. Tickets are $4.50 presale, or $5 at the door until they are gone. Entertainment will be provided by Dancers' Elite and Bluffton High School strings

Tickets may be purchased from Relay for Life teams or Greg's Pharmacy.
