Love to golf? Love your library?

Put the two together and you get the Birdies for Bookworms Golf Scramble on Saturday, June 4. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Bluffton Public Library and offers many fun ways to support the local library.

Golfers can join Mayor Fred Rodabaugh for a scramble event at the Bluffton Golf Club including cart, continental breakfast and lunch for $50.

Explore "Novel Destinations" this summer through Bluffton Public Library's book discussions. The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton will be discussed on Wednesday, June 1, from noon-1:30 p.m. at Common Grounds Coffeehouse and Caf'e.

In this book, "a tiny girl is abandoned on a ship headed for Australia in 1913. She arrives completely alone with nothing but a small suitcase containing a few clothes and a single book - a beautiful volume of fairy tales.

Do you enjoy reading or writing poetry? Then come and join the Bluffton Public Library for an open poetry night on Thursday, May 26, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the library's Richland Room.

Members of the community ages 12 and up are invited to share poems that they've written or ones they hold dear or simply come and listen to the creativity of others.

All poems read must have appropriate content. Space for the program is limited and registration is required.

A Summer Personal Training Special is now offered to anyone over the age of 14 years at BFR. The summer special offers six 30-minute training sessions for a package rate of $60 for non-members.
Personal training is an option for new exercisers as well as individuals who are training for an athletic event or to increase their physical abilities.

The Inn at Ohio Northern University, an Icon advertiser, has several events planned during May that are open to the public.

Freed Center Pre-Show Dinner Buffett

On May 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., enjoy an exceptional dinner buffet before the presentation of Oklahoma! at the Freed Center. The buffet dinner is $25 per person including tax and gratuity.

The Friends of the Bluffton Public Library have extended the registration deadline for the third annual Community Garage Sale, which will be held on May 19, 20, and 21.

Maps highlighting individual sale locations, a list of addresses with sale descriptions, media coverage, and classified advertising will be coordinated by the Friends.

To appear on the map and list, participants must register by Friday, May 6, 2011. The Friends need a minimum of 20 participants for this event.
