J.D. Yoder advises ONU engineering students in creation of "robotic football players"

An Ohio Northern University team of engineering students advised by Bluffton resident J.D. Yode, have created three robotic football players to compete in the third annual University of Notre Dame robotic football competition on April 15.

As part of their senior capstone project during the 2010-11 academic year, a team of ONU students manufactured robotic players (a quarterback, a center and a wide receiver), with funding from the University of Notre Dame.

Bluffton thumps Earlham 15-3 in HCAC clash (baseball)

The Bluffton University baseball team plated runs in five innings, including a six-run third inning and a four-run fourth as the Beavers beat Heartland Conference opponent Earlham College 15-3 on April 12, 2011. Bluffton improved to 2-9 in the HCAC and 10-16 overall with their second victory over Earlham in as many weeks. The Quakers slipped to 11-13 on the season and 4-7 in the conference.

Pandora council agrees to purchase 2011 Ford pick-up

The Village of Pandora will buy a 2011 Ford F-250 truck through the Ohio State Purchasing Program. The purchase price, with several options added, will total $23,863.

That action took place at the March 22 council session. Following are the complete minutes of the meeting.

The Pandora Village Council met in Regular Session on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at 7:00 PM at the Municipal Building with Mayor, John Schlumbohm, presiding.

Bluffton picks up split after game two win over Defiance (softball)

The Bluffton University softball team hosted Heartland Conference rival Defiance College on Wednesday, April 13, and split the doubleheader. The Beavers lost 5-3 to the Yellow Jackets, but came back to win the second game, 4-3. Bluffton improved to 6-4 in the HCAC and 14-13 overall. Defiance moved to 3-3 in the conference and 11-17 overall.

Shannon McKamey gets 3 stolen bases, 3 runs as Lady Pirates stop P-G 16-6

The spring weather has helped to keep the Lady Pirates bats warmed up and blasting hits, as the Pirates welcomed the Pandora-Gilboa Rockets in a backyard ballgame Wednesday.

The Pirates coming off an 11-1 win against Leipsic, were back on the attack early with a first inning double play by Katie Palte and Ashlin Gable to end the inning for the Rockets.
