Officers were elected for The Beaverdam Bunch 4-H Club on March 25th at their last meeting. They elected President, Cierra Ackerman; Vice-president, Rebekah Hoff; Secretary, Addison Businger; Reporter, Zoe Kramer; Health Officer, Will Steiner ; Safety Officer, Daniel Creeger; and our Co-Recreation Officers, Carter Dyer and Trevor Smith.

Reminder: make sure to turn in all due forms and money by next meeting, April 8th.

Final week to view some amazing art by young artists at the library

Pablo Picasso once wrote “Every child is an artist.” With that thought in mind,  this week is your final chance to view some amazing art by young artists from Bluffton and surrounding communities.

“Make Your Mark” student art showcase 2019 is currently on exhibit at the Bluffton Public Library. The exhibit closes at the end of the month.

Artists range in age from early elementary to seniors in high school. Media mainly focuses on pencil, colored pencil, acrylic, photography, fiber and sculpture.

Presentation at next Gardeners club meeting on April 2

The next Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora Area meeting is Monday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bluffton Public Library, in the lower meeting room. Laurie Laird from New Leaf Garden Center will give a presentation on garden planning, for both spring vegetable and flower gardens. This event is free and open to the public.

Purpose to demonstrate that cover crops, soil testing and conservation tillage will not lower crop yields

Bluffton council will learn tonight about a grant pursued by the Blanchard River Watershed Partnership involving farmers in the Lower Riley Creek Watershed.

The grant was recently submitted to the Great Lakes Sediment and Nutrient Reduction Program. Funding is from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The grant’s purpose is to demonstrate that the use of cover crops, soil testing and conservation tillage will not lower crop yields.

Sorry, no sound is with our photos, but here’ one last look at this year’s Bluffton Music Boosters chicken barbecue and music held Friday evening at the middle school.

Fourteen music groups from fourth grade to BHS seniors performed.

Groups were directed by Alice Basinger, elementary; Rachael Lewis, orchestra; David Sycks, band; and Kara Zink, choir.

Proclamation made by Mayor Johnson during wrestling banquet

Bluffton High School wrestling state champion, DeAndre Nassar, received a hometown award during last week's BHS wrestling banquet.

Richard Johnson, Bluffton mayor, presented the senior wrestler with a proclamation that official named Saturday, March 9, as DeAndre Nassar Day in Bluffton. March 9 was the day that Nassar won his weight class at the state wrestling meet.
