Photo-story: Ed and Nancy Yeager, 2021 Lions Citizens of the Year

On Tuesday, May 3, the Bluffton Lions Club hosted a dinner at Bluffton Town Hall honoring Ed and Nancy Yeager as the 2021 Citizens of the Year. The husband and wife team are a dynamic duo who support a variety of community programs.

The third floor meeting room was filled with friends, associates and the extended Yeager family. Testimonials, some planned and delivered at the podium and some impromptu from the floor, detailed how much the Yeagers are doing for the Bluffton community.

Scrap Artists craft 25 baby quilts for Allen County Children Services

Several members of the Bluffton Scrap Artist Quilters worked on sewing baby quilts during a recent retreat at Bluffton Town Hall, with over twenty-five quilts to be donated to Allen County Children Services in Lima.

The sewers spread out over the large third floor meeting room, where they meet on a regular basis.

Money for the fabric was donated by Thrivent.

BHS student artwork in Governor's exhibit through May

Bluffton High School senior and art student Amber Boop had her work "Sweet World" selected by a panel of judges to be part of the 52nd annual Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition. The exhibition opened at the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower, across from the State Capitol, on April 24 and closes near the end of May.

Bluffton teachers win Health Action Council challenge

A collective 577,868 steps earned the Pirates "Team B"--a.k.a. Jaime Combs, Heidi Steiner, and Ryan Dunlap--$1,500 for Bluffton Schools, courtesy of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA).

Beaverdam Bunch April 2022 report

A 4-H meeting for The Beverdam Bunch was held on Monday, April 11.

They have decided to sponsor 4 awards for the Allen County Fair this year. The deadline to enroll in 4-H was Friday April 16.

The next meeting for The Beverdam Bunch will be Monday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m. at Bluffton Middle School, 116 S Jackson St.

Laura Voth to be honored with Jefferson Award

Laura Voth, of Bluffton, is being recognized with a Jefferson Award for her dedication to assisting the United Way of Greater Lima. On Tuesday, April 19, Voth will be among eight recipients honored at a dinner at the City Club in Lima.

The recipients will receive medalilions and $350 for a charity they select. One honoree will go on to represent the region at the national level.
