MHCO Green House project moving quickly

Things are moving quickly on the Mennonite Home Communites of Ohio's Green House project on Augsburger Road. Trusses are in place and roof work is underway.

Officials are now projecting a completion of construction in early July with a move-in slated for early November. Persons may also follow construction progress at mmhliving.org/news or go to the MHCO facebook page.

Biking for a good cause

Randy Keeler, Bluffton University faculty member, bikes for a good cause. The stationary bike in the Marbeck Center kiva is part of a fund-raising project for Bluffton University students headed to Chicago for some voluntary service projects during spring break.

Campus students, faculty and staff sign up to ride the bike to urge others to donate to the cause.

$2,000 matching gift assists Memory Garden project at Maple Crest

A $2,000 matching gift from an anonymous donor means donations accepted through Feb. 19 continue to make a major impact in the Maple Crest Memory Garden and Pier Project, according to Daren Lee, director of marketing of Maple Crest Senior Living Villages, Bluffton.

On Feb. 11 Maple Crest held a pancake breakfast fundraiser to launch its Memory Garden project. From that event over $1,300 was raised by the more than 200 persons in attendance who enjoyed nearly 900 pancakes.

Soup-Sandwich supper Feb. 27 at MMH

The Service Group of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio hosts a soup and sandwich supper from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 27, in the chapel of the Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton.

The supper will be available for dining-in or carry-out. The menu includes the following soups: broccoli and cheese, ham and bean, and chicken-noodle vegetable.

Sandwiches include shredded beef and barbecue pork. A variety of homemade pies are available. The cost for a bowl of soup, sandwich and slice of piece with beverage is $8. For children 10 and under, the cost is $4.

Maple Crest Feb. 27 book discussion "Strength in What Remains"

A discussion of Tracy Kidder's book "Strength in What Remains" will take place in the family room of Maple Crest Senior Living Village on Monday, Feb. 27, at 3 p.m. Maple Crest Senior Living Village is located at 700 Maple Crest Ct., Bluffton.

Copies of the book may be requested at Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main St., Bluffton.

Jenna Buroker, Lindsey Sneary, Mary Woodruff, Abbey Rieman named students of the month

Four senior girls have been recognized by Bluffton High School as students of the month for October, November, December and January.

Jenna Buroker is October's student of the month. She is a member of Art Club, Show Choir, National Honor Society, Northwest Conference Sportsmanship Committee and Bible study. She has participated in volleyball at BHS. She maintains a 3.935 grade point average.
