At the August 22 Bluffton council meeting, EMS chief Jan Basinger requested a meeting with the Safety Services Committee to discuss growing needs in the EMS Department. Chief Jon Kinn asked to be present at that meeting, to address the same topic for the Fire Department.

A meeting is set for today, August 24, at noon.

The following letter from Greg Denecker, superintendent of the Bluffton Exempted Village Schools, can also be found in a newsletter mailed to Bluffton residents. On Wednesday, August 24, students are invited to meet their teachers; they go back to school on Monday, August 29.

Enrollment • New staff members • School security • Senior citizen breakfasts • Financial report • Professional development • Permanent improvements

We are looking forward to the 2022-2023 school year and to welcoming over 1200 students into our district on the first day of school. Our enrollment numbers have stayed very consistent over the past 25 years, which is a real tribute to our community and staff because many schools in our region have lost considerable enrollment in that same time frame.

ADMINISTRATION
Village administrator Jesse Blackburn reported on progress of two special committees. The Complete Streets Task Force culminates their work this Friday, August 12 with a full-day workshop, open to the public, to distill their surveys and findings into a policy to guide how the Village builds streets to accommodate more varied forms of getting around.
