Bluffton Boy Scouts food drive on Saturday

Leave items for pickup on your front porch by 9 a.m.

Bluffton Boy Scout troop 256 will “scout for food” on Saturday, according to Brad Taylor.

Bluffton scouts will canvas the community to pick up donations placed on front porches.

Canned food and non-perishable items may be donated. As in previous years, the scouts are collecting food that will be donated to the Bluffton Community Assistance Program’s food pantry, located in the St. John’s United Church of Christ.

Sensus will replace 1,450 Bluffton water meters

Meters installed last summer cost the village $400,000

Remember last summer when village employees replaced the water meter in your lawn?

The project involved 1,450 meters, each containing a radio transmitter that sends water usage by household to the village for monthly billing purposes. That project took all summer to complete.

This fall, after discovering some glitches in about 277 of the radio transmitters, Sensus, the company serving the contract announced that it will replace all 1,450 radio devises in the meters at no cost to the village, according to Jesse Blackburn, village administrator.

Bluffton voters will cast ballots at The Centre in May

Board of election decided to move the polling location from the elementary building

Registered voters in the village of Bluffton will vote at The Centre, 601 N. Main St., during the May 4 Ohio primary election.

Voters were notified this week that the polling location will move from the Bluffton elementary school, where it was located for several decades, to The Centre.

According to Kathy Meyer, director of the Allen County board of elections, voters must receive a notification of a polling location move 90 days prior to an election, thus the yellow post card sent through the U.S. Postal Service announcing the location change.

Lane restrictions on I-75 south around Beaverdam on Wednesday

Interstate 75 southbound, through the work zone at the village of Beaverdam, will have lane restrictions Wednesday, March 10, 7 a.m. to noon, for work in the median to seed and mulch.  

This is part of an on-going I-75 resurfacing and reconstruction project on Interstate 75 between Napoleon Road and State Route 235, just south of the village of Beaverdam to three miles north of the village of Bluffton through Summer 2021.
