Red Cross assisting family at Rawson house fire

The American Red Cross of North Central Ohio responded to a fire in Rawson on Thursday evening.

The Red Cross provided assistance for the immediate needs, such as temporary lodging, food and clothing for one adult and two children.

Red Cross volunteers will continue to help the those affected, providing recovery assistance, resources and referrals to community partners.

Saturday night, time to "spring forward"

Daylight Saving Time begins early Sunday morning, March 14. So, when going to bed on Saturday night, remember to turn your clocks forward 1 hour. “Spring forward” in the spring and “fall back” in the fall. DST continues until Nov. 7.

Ohio changing travel guidance for COVID-19

Weekly travel advisory will no longer be issued by the Ohio Department of Health

Starting March 10, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), will no longer issue a travel advisory for those entering Ohio after traveling to states reporting positive testing rates of 15% or higher.

Instead, ODH is revising its travel guidance to encourage Ohioans to carefully review Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance when considering travel.

Bluffton agencies receive United Way bonus

United Way of Greater Lima presents checks approximately 10% above announced funding levels

Last July, the United Way of Greater Lima and the United Way of Bluffton, Beaverdam, and Richland Township joined together to collaboratively serve the community. 

The goal was through combined efforts the two organizations would be able to effectively address community issues, maximize collective resources, and ensure the needs of the community were met well into the future.

Friday AM chamber focus on Jefferson Street project

Representatives of AEP will discuss electrical infrastructure

Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will get an update on the Jefferson Street-State Route 103 corridor improvements on Friday, according to Paula Scott, chamber CEO.

The 7:30 a.m. meeting is via Zoom. Jesse Blackburn, village administrator, will talk about the improvements taking place this summer.

In addition, he will talk about bicycle-pedestrian pathways and electrical infrastructure. Representatives from AEP will join in that discussion.

Bluffton Boy Scouts food drive on Saturday

Leave items for pickup on your front porch by 9 a.m.

Bluffton Boy Scout troop 256 will “scout for food” on Saturday, according to Brad Taylor.

Bluffton scouts will canvas the community to pick up donations placed on front porches.

Canned food and non-perishable items may be donated. As in previous years, the scouts are collecting food that will be donated to the Bluffton Community Assistance Program’s food pantry, located in the St. John’s United Church of Christ.
