Training programs for those beginning to run and for those who want to increase speed are being offered by BFR Sports & Fitness, according to Carole Enneking of BFR.

Activate Allen County hosts "bike to school day" at Bluffton Middle School May 7

Wednesday, May 7, is “bike to school day,” for Bluffton Middle School students.

The program is part of Activate Allen County.

According to Josh Unterbrink, Active Living Team Leader, “We are encouraging all Bluffton Middle School students who ride bikes to school to stop at the front of the middle school before school starts for fruit, refreshments and to register fro great door prizes.”

Tuesday, May 6, is Ohio primary election day. Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Bluffton voters vote in the Bluffton elementary multi-purpose room.

The election has several partisan races. In addition, there is:
• one state issue,
• a mental health and recovery services board levy and
• a Bluffton tax levy renewal.

First Bluffton Farmers' Market of the season is Saturday

The long wait is over. On Saturday, May 3, the popular Bluffton Farmers' Market opens for its 11th season. The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will hold an official ribbon cutting to launch this year's market prior to its morning opening.

The market will be open rain or shine, from 8:30 a.m. to noon each Saturday from May 3 until then end of October.

The market is in the Citizens National Bank parking lot. Persons interested in becoming vendors should contact Peter Previte at 567-674-9513.

April snow and rain adds up

Temperatures in April ranged from a high of 78 degrees on the 13th to a low of 21 degrees on the 16th.

The average April temperature was 50.3 degrees, a bit higher than the normal average of 49.7 degrees. This April was wetter than previous Aprils. This year we experienced 5.21 inches of precipitation and 2.1 inches of snow. The normal April precipitation is 3.48 inches.
