There's still time to sign up for some volunteer work in Bluffton - and you'll be rewarded

Ever want to do a good deed during the holidays, but didn't know what to do? First National Bank offers an solution to that. 

This month FNB invites area residents to do a good deed and receive a free gift certificate, courtesy of Kasasa, its rewards checking account partner. You probably saw the bank's booth at the Blaze. Here's what it's all about:

Financial aid night at Bluffton High School Dec. 18

The Guidance Department at Bluffton High School is sponsoring a financial aid meeting for parents of juniors and seniors who are planning to continue their education beyond high school.  

The meeting will be held at the high school library on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 7 p.m. Lawrence Matthews, Director of Financial Aid at Bluffton University, will be the presenter for the  
evening.  He will discuss financial aid and filing the FAFSA form.

Allen County Health Department signs “Breastfeeding Welcome Here” pledge

In an attempt to improve the health outcomes of babies and children, and to set an example to other worksites and businesses in Allen County, the Allen County Health Department has signed a “Breastfeeding Welcome Here” pledge.  

By taking the “Breastfeeding Welcome Here” pledge, the Health Department agrees to provide a welcoming environment where breastfeeding mothers are able to sit anywhere and enjoy a welcoming attitude from staff, management and, to the fullest extent possible, other patrons while breastfeeding.

Float winners, downtown business window winners announced

Float winners in the Blaze parade and downtown holiday business window winners were announced by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Float winners - each receives a trophy
First place - Trinity Lutheran Church and School, Jenera
Second place - Bluffton Lions Club
Third place - Bluffton Baptist Church

Junior Weihrauch, Baze parade director, headed the float judging.

BFR Sports and Fitness offers Silver Sneakers Fitness Program for senior adults

BFR Director, Carole Enneking, reminds community members that the BFR Sports and Fitness is a partner in the Silver Sneakers Fitness Program.  

Silver Sneakers is a network of fitness facilities across the United States that offer free memberships to senior adults who have qualifying insurance plans. Currently, BFR has 145 Silver Sneakers members using its facility.

Texas Roadhouse gift cards now available through BFR

The annual Texas Roadhouse Restaurant holiday fundraiser is now underway at BFR Sports and Fitness. 

Gift Cards with values of $15, $25 and $50 are on hand in limited supply; large orders can be pre-paid and picked up at the Bluffton facility. The cards may be used at any Texas Roadhouse restaurant in the United States. 

BFR receives 10% of the total value of sales. Cards will be available through Dec. Contact BFR by calling 419-358-4150 for more information.
