Youth bike rodeo new feature to arts and crafts show

A free bike rodeo for area youngsters will take place from 9 to 11 a.m., at the downtown Saturday arts and crafts show, according to Rick Skillier, Bluffton police chief.

The rodeo will take place on Church Street between Main and the alley behind Citizens National Bank. The rodeo is free and open to all youth. Hope Hannah, Bluffton police officer, will be at the rodeo, assisting youth.

Largest arts and crafts show in years on Main Street Saturday

Sixty arts and craft vendors, 14 business booths,  health fair, activities for kids, entertainment, farmers' market, food, sidewalk sales and a bike rodeo: It means that Saturday is the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce arts and crafts fair.

The 42nd annual fair takes place downtown and it is one of the largest shows in recent years. 

Show hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no admission charge.

Here's a look at how the local precincts voted on Tuesday

Bluffton and Richland Township voters beat Allen County precincts in voting on May 7. Based on the total registered voters in Allen County only 24.46 percent voted on May 7.

Bluffton's three precincts average 38 percent turn out. Richland Township's two precincts averaged 36 percent turnout.

Here's the primary election vote by precinct in the Allen County portion of the Bluffton school district.

Summer Special Begins at BFR
BFR is offering a Summer Membership Special now through Aug. 31, according to Carole Enneking, director.

The summer membership includes four months of individual membership benefits for the price of a three-month membership. Cost of the summer special is $89.46, which averages to just over $22 per month compared with the monthly rate of $30.

April 2013 was wetter than average Aprils

This past April saw 5.11 inches of rain when the normal is 3.29 inches, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

Temperatures ranged from a low of 20 degrees (F) to a high of 82 degrees (F).  The average temperature for April was 49 degrees.

The most rainfall was measured on April 10 with 1.35 inches recorded.
