It's October. The temperatures begin to drop just as the leaves on the trees fall. Here are the high and low temperature readings for the first four days of the month from Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.
Blanchard Valley Hospital will host the third annual Spirit Girls' Night Out on Thursday, Oct. 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Findlay Village Mall, 1800 Tiffin Avenue, Findlay.
Women in attendance will hear from guest speakers about breast health, deep vein thrombosis and getting a restful night's sleep.
The event will also feature free health screenings, hair and makeup demonstrations, door prizes, shopping, product samples and healthy refreshments. A $250 makeover will also be given away.
Admission is a baby bottle, wipes, lotion or shampoo for charity.
Dr. Terry Chappell of Celebration of Health, is the October Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting speaker. The free chamber breakfast is at 7:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 8, in the third floor of the town hall.
The meeting is open to the public. Persons planning to attend must send RSVPs by Wednesday to [email protected].
Three events are planned in October by the Bluffton Lions Club.
The Oct. 5 meeting features Dr. Tony Fuller, veterinarian from Findlay speaking on "Living in Kenya." The Oct. 19 meeting features Rachel Lewis, music educator and therapist at Bluffton Elementary speaking on "Music Therapy & Children with special needs".
On Oct. 23 club members will be involved in a highway cleanup.
Bluffton Lions meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 11:50 a.m. at Maple Crest.
