The Bluffton High School girls tennis team won the top two singles matches but fell 3-2 in the overall score versus Defiance on Tuesday evening, August 16.
The close defeat dropped the Pirate record to 1-2-1 this season.
Juniors Brooke Camper and Caitlyn Couch each rolled to victory in straight sets to record the Bluffton wins.
Camper defeated Alexa Ritter by the score of 6-1, 6-1 at first singles. Couch steamrolled Kaiya Snyder 6-0, 6-0 at second singles.
Hosting at Bluffton Golf Club, Bluffton High School won a three-team Northwest Conference golf match on Monday, August 15.
The Pirates finished first with 178 strokes, followed by Allen East (197) and Ada (236). Mustang Levi Clum captured match medalist honors with a nine-hole round of 37.
Jaden Coonfare paced Bluffton with a score of 41. Jacob Boisvert was second for the Pirates with a round of 44. Eli Wenger carded a 45, while Evan Speicher shot a 48.
Logan Combs added a 50, while Aiden Sponslor registered a 54.
The Bluffton High School golf team won a three-school Northwest Conference golf match Thursday, August 11 at the Bluffton Golf Course.
The Pirates easily finished first with 178 strokes, followed by a pair of Bulldog squads. Columbus Grove took second with a 193 total, while Ada came in a distant third (238).

Aiden Sponsler posted a round of 45 to finish second for the Pirates.
The Bluffton University women's soccer team is excited to kick off the Zach Hammon era when the Beavers hit the pitch this fall. Kevin Gregory led the women for four years before heading home to Texas when he was named the head coach at Austin College. Bluffton returns all of its goal scoring and it will look to take advantage of improved depth and experience in 2022.
