Bluffton hosts NWC wresting tourney on February 18

The Northwest Conference wrestling tournament will be hosted by Bluffton High School, 106 W. College Ave., beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 18.

Entered in the tournament are 80 high school wrestlers and 62 junior high wrestlers. The high school tournament will be in the Bluffton High School gym, and the Junior High tournament will be in the auxillary gym.

The field includes state runner-up 285# Eli Criblez, 11, Allen East (undefeated at 34-0).

Hot-shooting Pirates disarm Knights

Playing at home, the Bluffton High School boys basketball team poured in 50 points over the middle quarters to rout visiting Van Buren 86-58 in a non-conference contest Tuesday night, February 15.

The Pirates drained a dozen triples to pave the way to victory.

With the win, the Pirates improved to 18-2, while VB fell to 7-14 after the loss.

Bluffton led 13-5 after the first period before heating up. They then racked up 25 points in each of the second and third periods to build a 63-43 cushion.

Strong free throw shooting helps Bluffton women defeat Franklin

The Bluffton University women's basketball team continued its winning ways with a 62-56 victory over Franklin College on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022. Bluffton improved to 16-6 overall and 11-4 in the Heartland Conference, while Franklin dipped to 7-14 and 5-9 in the HCAC.

Bluffton women take 14 seconds off 200 Yd Medley time

Day two of the Heartland Conference Swimming and Diving Championships saw two 5th place finishes for Bluffton University and another school record hit the bricks. Bluffton remains in 5th place as a team, standing ahead of both Manchester and Hanover as the meet is rounding the final curve.

Franklin tops Bluffton men by ten

 The Bluffton University men's basketball team dropped a 75-65 decision to Franklin College on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022. Bluffton fell to 5-16 overall and 1-12 in the Heartland Conference, while Franklin avenged its 70-65 January loss to Bluffton, improving to 10-14 overall and 6-9 in the HCAC.

P-G boys lose to Fort Jennings, 33-31

The Pandora-Gilboa Rockets (8-0 BVC, 4-2 PCL, 12-7) boys basketball team let one slip away on Saturday night Feb. 12, losing a tight one on the road to Putnam County League foe Fort Jennings, 33-31.
