Bassitt takes bronze, PRs in World Athletic Championships
Bluffton athlete Trevor Bassitt ran a personal record of 47.39 in the men's 400m hurdles to win a bronze medal at the 2022 World Athletic Championships.
In a field including the Tokyo Olympics gold and silver medalists, Bassitt placed behind Brazil’s Alison Dos Santos and teammate Rai Benjamin, who said he was more excited about Bassitt's bronze than his own silver.
Norwegian Karsten Warholm, who won gold in Tokyo, has only finished two races this season due to injuries and failed to place.
Bassitt is 24 years old and has run for Ohio's Ashland University, a DII school. He won a silver medal earlier this year at the world indoor championships.
