Bluffton residents are reminded about the upcoming 5K Run/Walk that will take place Labor Day Weekend. On Saturday, Sept. 3, between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., runners and walkers will hit the streets to compete as well as raise funds for BFR Sports & Fitness.
Village residents are encouraged to support the racers by watching from the sidewalks. Bluffton Police will lead the racers and mark intersections where runners will cross traffic.
Please watch out for the volunteers who will direct participants and for
the racers and walkers at the end of the pack.
The Bluffton High School girls tennis team scored a 5-0 whitewash of Kenton Thursday afternoon as all victories were in straight sets.
Ashlin Gable, Emily Sprague and Kristi Geiser were singles winners, while Shaye Liddick and Rachel Sehlhorst and Bronwyn Greer and Dynasty Martin swept the doubles matches.
Ready for some football? The Icon is ready. This year we offer viewers two weekly contests. One features high school games; the second features college games.
Viewers may enter one or both contests. Entering is simple: Pick your teams and hit send. All entries are e-mailed directly to our judge, Corey Greer. This way, viewers from across the United States, or the world for that matter, may play.

The Bluffton Athletic Boosters invite Bluffton HS sports fans to meet the coaches Sunday, Aug. 21, at The Centre. A dinner is available at 12:30 p.m. and the coaches will be interviewed by a local news station about the upcoming season.

Junior Emily Sprague came away with the lone Bluffton victory in a 4-1 team loss to Shawnee in girls tennis Monday afternoon at Harmon Field courts.
Sprague, playing at No. 2 singles, took two out of three sets in the Pirate ladies opening match.
Seniors Ashlin Gable and Kristi Geiser dropped straight set matches at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Rachel Sehlhorst and Shaye Liddick dropped both sets at No. 1 doubles, as did Bronwyn Greer and Mariah Hughes at No. 2 doubles.
BFR's Labor Day 5k Run/ Walk is Saturday, Sept. 3. The entry fee is $15. The event also featured a one-mile fun run and a Pump and Run Challenge. Race begins at 9 a.m. More information at www.bfronline.com or contact at 419-358-4150.
