Bluffton girls fall to AE

Playing at home, the Bluffton High School girls basketball team lost to local rival Allen East 47-35 in the Northwest Conference regular season finale Thursday evening, February 9.

Bluffton finished its regular season 13-9 overall and ended up 1-7 in the NWC with the loss, good for eighth place in the league.

Bluffton Diamond Sports deadline is February 12

Time is running out to get your baseball and softball registrations in with Bluffton Diamond Sports, which has a February 12 deadline.

Organizers note, "We are switching softball leagues this year, so in addition to adding a younger age group, games will also start later this spring and games nights are a little different."

BHS boys basketball nipped in OT by Elida 

Seeded 6th at sectionals, to face rival AE

The visiting Bluffton boys basketball team lost 56-53 to Elida in overtime during a non-conference matchup Tuesday night in the Elida Fieldhouse.

Pirate junior Wade Ginther led all players with 20 points. 

Bluffton sophomore Terron Boblitt tallied 11 markers, while senior guard Carson Soper contributed 10 points. Sophomore guard Marek Donaldson chipped in with nine points.

Bluffton dropped to 10-8 with the close defeat. Elida improved to 8-11 with the victory.

Beavers men's basketball recap, February 4

The Bluffton University men's basketball dropped to 4-17 overall and 2-12 in the Heartland Conference as they hosted the Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers on February 4, 2023. Rose improved to 12-9 with a 9-5 mark in the HCAC. Saturday marked the final Alumni Day with Head Coach Guy Neal manning the sidelines and he was honored for his 34 years at the helm following the game.

BHS girls basketball makes late run past Miller City

The visiting Bluffton High School girls basketball team closed the game on a 12-3 run to defeat Miller City 48-40 in a non-conference battle Saturday afternoon, February 4.

Bluffton improved to 13-8 with their fourth win in 10 road games. The Wildcat girls dropped to 10-10 following the defeat.

Pirate senior point guard Sami Scoles led all players with 22 points, and she also grabbed five rebounds. The clutch Scoles scored eight of the 12 Bluffton points in the decisive finishing spurt.

BHS boys basketball: 70-55 win vs Falcons

The host Bluffton High School boys basketball team rode a three-point barrage to beat Riverdale 70-55 in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, February 4.

Sophomore guard Marek Donaldson drained seven of the 11 Pirate three-point goals, and he scored a game-high 23 points to pace the victory.

Bluffton outscored the Falcons 36-24 after intermission.  

Donaldson sank three trifectas in the opening stanza to help the Pirates to a 20-13 advantage.
