Nature-inspired jewelry exhibit opens Jan. 11

Bluffton University will present an art exhibit, "Kristina Glick: Jewelry, Prints and Enamels," Monday, Jan. 11, through Friday, Feb. 5, in the Grace Albrecht Gallery of Sauder Visual Arts Center. The exhibit will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and is free and open to the public.

University hosts two MLK Day Forum events

Eighth graders from Lima North Middle School will present "The More I Understand, The More I Accept," Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. in Founders Hall as part of Bluffton University's Forum series. The forum is free and open to the public.

The presentation will be given by the 22-member class of the Lima Arts Magnet program, which is based at Lima North Middle School. The class is in the process of developing a readers' theatre series that focuses on societal struggles with racism, prejudice, tolerance and acceptance.

RED BENROTH BRIDGE

The Benroth covered bridge never looked as red as it does today. That's because it is framed its unnamed bridge partner, which also crosses the Marsh Run at the Buckeye. If you look closely at the photo in the current masthead space of The Icon home page, you'll notice that it's the same photo as this one.

Dean Niswander 1928-2010

Dean Niswander

Dean Clair Niswander, 81, died at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 5, 2010, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.

He was born Feb. 6, 1928 in Bluffton to Carey F. and Lulu Hilty Niswander, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 20, 1950, he married Joanne Vercler, who survives.
